“Non-state actors must answer for their crimes too!” said ANAD Rep. Jun Alcover as he strongly condemn as blatant treachery and chicanery the Maoist terrorist NPA ‘rescue’ of their comrade from detention and the abduction of 4 members of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Kitaotao, Bukidnon, last July 21.

“While there seems to be a chorus prodding government to convict those responsible in extra-judicial killings (EJK), that even the European Union asked from government, those initiating the move have remained silent on the atrocities perpetrated by the Maoist terrorist NPAs that relentlessly ravaged the countryside, murdered unsupportive civilians, and milked them dry, and others,” said Rep. Alcover.

“By far, this is worst than what the Maoist terrorist legal sectoral front organizations claimed against government,” he added.

Decrying the incident in Bukidnon as highly outrageous, Rep. Alcover said that the rescue of Dennis Rodenas, indeed a ‘high value Maoist terrorist prisoner’ as he is a known NPA butcher in Western and Northern Mindanao who wears several ‘strings of human souls’ around his neck, is evidence that contrary to the claims by Maoist terrorist sectoral front organizations, e.g. the Philippines Alliance of Human Rights Advocates (PAHRA), Task Force Detainees (TFD), and the international savvy and New York-based Human Rights Watch, “The NPA are far more adept in committing extra-judicial killings that warrants immediate concern and action by these groups!” clarified Rep. Alcover.

“What I am saying is that the campaign to put a stop to EJK must also be directed against Maoist terrorist NPA, which for 42 years and still continuing, has shown their propensity for inhumanity and violence against the Filipino people. If indeed they believe in the need to uphold and protect the sacred human rights, particularly the right to life, I dare challenge PAHRA, TFD, and Karapatan, to call on the NPA to free BJMP Inspectors Erico Llamazares and Murphy Tujog, Jail Officer 2 Rogelio Beguntes and Jail Officer 1 Roland Bajuyo whom they took hostage and used as shield in their escape. They too must demand the return of Dennis Rodenas to serve his sentence at the Davao Penal Colony so that justice be served against the culprit! But why are they so silent about this?” he pointed out.

Also, Rep. Alcover said that the hands of the Maoist terrorist CPP-NPA-NDF leadership are fully wrapped with bad-blood as they’ve been proven to order the execution of their own peers and then blame government for these incidents. “These people cannot hide behind the skirt of being revolutionaries, much more terrorists, to escape blame, liability, and responsibility of murdering Filipinos in cold-blood!” Rep. Alcover emphasized this as he reminisced the time when he was an active Political Officer and Commanding Officer of an NPA command in Leyte, Samar, and Cebu, in the 70’s.

“They must now shed-off their lies and callous deception that have brought misconception and confusion among our people, for more than 4 decades. They must now open up and seek restitution for the crimes they committed against the Filipino people and not just simply escape responsibility by the cleverly machinated black propaganda campaigns against government and the Filipino people,” Rep. Alcover stressed.
